1926 Graham Charabanc owned Allen Price |
|
I think it was Allen Jones That invited Allen Price to call in and pay us a visit at our Christmas Party on the Esplanade at Tannum Sands, Unless this was Our First recorded "Gate Crasher". Either way Allen Price managed to Coax this beauty along the Highway from Banaraby at "no more than 40 mph" I got the Impression that Allen felt guilty at holding up traffic . . People love to see these old cars on the road Allen. . Just take in the scenery and enjoy the moment … It never hurts to slow the world down for a short while on a weekend. |

Allen did explain to me that the Graham was really a Dodge that used the Graham name for Commercial vehicles . But I lost the piece of paper that I wrote the details on (again) So I will not mention the connection. . . Just that it is a Graham. The Charabanc was originally a light truck that was used in the Glenn Innes Tenterfield area, but Allen decided to utilise some plans he had of an original Charabanc body that suited his purpose better. In total it took around 15 years to restore, with help from numerous people and most of the work was done while Allen was living in Taree (mid North Coast NSW) The work was completed around three years ago and Allen has recently moved to Benaraby where he owns the Greenacres Motel and Caravan Park. If you check out the photo below you will find that The Charabanc makes a useful billboard for advertising purposes. Nice Advert Allen. We shall send you the Bill. |

The below photo, shows the Luxuriate elegance that was a standard feature of Commercial vehicle of the time. |
