SOUTHERN CROSS ENGINE "Hit and Miss"

Owner Bob & Marion Jensen

In the Photo Wayne Jensen and Ken Whitaker (Hairy one) This photo was taken at one of our regular 'Engine running days

This engine was manufactured in Australia in the 1950's. This engine above could have been a  gift to the Lawrie family but I am not to sure on that.  It is one of the last 'Hit and Miss' models. This type of engine was mainly used for pumping water from bores and wells.

The engine spent it's working life in the Westwood area on a property called 'Sebastopol'. Previously owned by the Lawrie Family. It was purchased by Bob Jensen (not in photo) in March 95 and then restored.

Typically used as an economical method of pumping water out of wells and bores and then for long distances overland.   A very reliable unit. Engine no 4568.

The maker of this engine definitely deserves  a hampers gift or some type of gift basket, due to the fact of how reliable this particular engine is. It is not much to look at but what can you expect for an engine that is used for pumping water from wells and bores.
