1924 Essex |
Photo left The Essex prior to being rescued by John Sitting ungraciously in a disused chook pen, John describes this as reasonably complete. |
As the story goes, The Hudson Motor Company decided to build a car to compete with cheaper cars on the market, and if you believe that they threw two darts at a map of Britain and came up with Essex, and Dover (Commercial Version) then that is the story. The Essex was built between 1918/32 it then became the Terraplane. Originally the Essex were a four cylinder car and gained a little fame through racing success and in 1923 were remodelled and fitted with a small 6 cylinder motor, eventuating the situation of having both 4 and six cylinder 1934 models in Australia. |
