Jaguar model XJ is a saloon type jaguar that is build in luxury by the British Jaguar "luxury marque". This model type of Jaguar Car was launched in the year 1968. This model served as the "Jaguar flagship" model for its production span continues through until today. This is the last Jaguar car model where Mr. William Lyons had a contribution being the head and founder of Jaguar Cars Company.

XJ6 model uses 4.2L or 4235 cc/25 in3 that have a straight 6-cylinder version of Jaguar's "renowned" engine XK. The same model also has a 2.8L or 2790-cc/170 in3 engines. This model had been expanded into 4 ranges in 1960s.

A new version was released in the market under the "Daimler" brand, which was called Daimler Sovereign. The designation of XJ was used from the car's code name during the years it was being developed and is known as an experimental Jaguar Car.

In 1968, this model was introduced again using a television commercial advertisement, where Sir William was featured. He referred on the commercial that this model is the finest Jaguar Car ever. Moreover, in 1972, a new version, XJ12, was launched with a 5.2 Litre V12 engine.
