A closer look at the remains of one of the wheels gives a look at the brakes. |

We have a mudguard amongst the pile of tin, Not all of it is anywhere near as good as this But it should help towards the Identification purpose. |

1924 RUGBY PARTS WHAT CAR IS THIS ? This site serves Free classified adverts |
|
John Mcbeth had a Radiator surround in the back of the Chevrolet and he pulled it out so that I could photograph it. There were a few thoughts About what make of car it was from, but nobody (that we asked) could identify it with any conviction. It seems that John found a car, and had dragged it home including the bits and I was invited around after the meeting to get a few photos . I am not entirely sure that John is not getting a little bored now that the Chevrolet is on the last stages of completion. But John never told me anything other than he has a found a good few parts and would like to Identify it in case the bits are useful to someone. |

I looked at greg and Kay Shukers (Capricornia Car Club Members) 1924 Rugby photo (I met them at the Capricornia Games) and it seemed to be similar I also looked at Syd Semps photo - I met Syd on the Mount Morgan Rally (a Capricornia Club Member) this 1928 Durant. Rugby was an Australian Durant. But Syds radiator was very different. From the photos we have on the net and the library the 1924 Rugby looks the front runner . Any advances on 1924 Rugby ? Update I Haven't been in your site for a very long time when I was looking for parts for my 1932 614 Durant sedan made by Dominion Motors after Durant Motors failed early 1931. You listed my ad back then with hopes, but I very much doubt the Dominion cars even left Ontario. It seems I have the sole surviving 1932 614 sedan. Not many Dominion cars July 31 - Jan 3. Durant and Frontenac now exist. Estimated less than 15. No 1934's, Three 1933 Fronty's and two Durant's. Norm Toone ----------------------------------------------------------- re WHAT CAR IS THIS ? From Norm Toone .If you look in http://www.durantcars.com/basics/history.shtml under Durant then Star you will see its a Star radiator shell not a Durant . Both cars called Rugby outside North America, Canada plant being the main exporter for Durant Motors for some reason. That radiator shell design used 1924 - 1927 Fender seems to same as 1924 - 1926. Just to keep it muddied up NA called its trucks Rugby, US and Canada. However in Odessa Ontario there is a 1930 Rugby 4 cylinder touring which is all 407 Durant but for the radiator crest. The owner has the papers back to factory and it came off the line as Rugby not Durant. Nothing is simple with Durant from day one nor written in stone. Different plants used different parts for same model . . Motto should have been "No two cars the same" instead of "A good car" t wouldn't surprise me the handle maker (?) made handles for Essex and then Dominion Motors 32's and down the road reused part of the design for the Old's or other rcars. was just wondering if DMAC had this site in our pages http://www.vintageandclassicreproductions.com/Universal.htm |
