This limited choice of factory body styles was available or the buyer could have a body constructed by the coachbuilder of his choice. The Light Tourer illustrated is thought to be the only remaining example with a Sunbeam factory body . The 24/60 was always going to be a rare car, as only 500 chassis - mostly the longer version - were manufactured. Today perhaps a dozen remain. The 4.5 litre 6-cylinder engine has overhead valves, seven main bearings and magneto ignition. It represents the final stage in the development of Sunbeam's 24hp engine, the previous model having had side valves and the porting reversed. A cone clutch, separate 4-speed gearbox and two-wheel brakes point to the Edwardian ancestry of the 24hp line. The chassis price in 1922 was US$6,500 and then you would add extra for the body, depending on your taste. The most expensive Cadillac V-8 in 1922, the 7-passenger Imperial Limousine, cost US$4,600 and a comparable Packard Single Eight was US$4950. A Silver Ghost Rolls Royce chassis was about US$11,500 |

|
The 1922 Sunbeam 24/60 Light Tourer was built on a chassis with a 136.5" wheelbase, some 7.5" shorter than used for the more formal Tourer, Saloon and Limousine Landaulette. |
