1964 Wolseley Mk2                     owned by Bill Swindells

Bill Swindells bought his first Wolseley

(White one) in Church St Parramatta in 1968.

The photo (right) was taken at his Grand daughters wedding,  years earlier it has been used for her mothers wedding.

As well as being a member of the Wolseley Club Bill is also a Member of the Gladstone Vintage and Classic Car Club, and hates to miss  the chance of putting the car on display  at outings in the local area.

1963  WOLSELEY  24/80

Bill is currently rebuilding the motor of the gray Wolseley.  And  a great believer in the Do It Yourself  philosophy.

1963 Wolseley 24/80

Some of the unique features available with the Wolseley 24/80 include:

  1. Spacious, minimalist interior.

  1. Unconventional tail fin.

  1. Exceptionally stiff body shell, featuring greater structural rigidity

  1. Comfortable interior trimming done in very soft expanded vinyl.

  1. Early example of anti-lock brakes and hydrolastic suspension

The Wolseley 24/80 sold well against the Holden Premier and Falcon Futura. The Austin 1800 replaced the Wolseley on the assembly line in October 1965, and stocks of the 24/80 lasted through till late 1966. These were the last Wolseleys to be sold in Australia as new cars.
